Designed for Everyone: Cleveron Is Fully EAA-Compliant

The European Accessibility Act took effect from 28 June 2025, setting new standards for inclusive self-service terminals. Cleveron is ahead of the curve, our parcel machines already meet and often exceed accessibility requirements, ensuring usability for everyone.

The European Accessibility Act (EAA) officially takes effect across the EU on 28 June 2025. It sets a clear standard: self-service terminals must be accessible to all users, regardless of ability.

At Cleveron, we didn’t just wait for the regulations to tell us accessibility matters. We’ve long designed our products with usability in mind, not just for some but for everyone. Before the EAA came into play, we already followed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a globally respected accessibility framework. That gave us a strong starting point.

Now, with the EAA in effect, we’ve reviewed, updated, and documented our entire product line to meet the directive and in many cases, go beyond it.

What is the European Accessibility Act (EAA)?

The European Accessibility Act (EAA) is an EU directive that aims to improve the accessibility of products and services for people with disabilities and the ageing population. The EAA requires that certain products and services be accessible to the public, including last-mile parcel management systems like parcel lockers and robotic parcel handover units. It’s about ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for everyone.

Cleveron’s parcel machines are directly affected, which means we needed to evaluate how every product measures up physically, digitally, and functionally.

What We’ve Always Done

Even before the EAA, Cleveron products included features that supported accessibility:

  • Interfaces designed with high contrast and clear structure
  • Keyboard navigation on most of our products
  • Logical user flows and extended interaction time
  • Physical layouts that consider reach and ease of use for majority of our products

These were already built into our systems and don’t act as extras, but as essentials.

What We’ve Upgraded

To align with the EAA, we’ve introduced some new hardware and software updates that further enhance accessibility.

We’ve also enhanced the audio accessibility devices so it no longer requires headphones, making it easier to interact with the system directly, even if the touchscreen is out of reach.

What This Means for You

If you operate Cleveron machines in the EU, you’re considered a service provider under the EAA. That means compliance doesn’t end at the machine, it includes how it’s installed, used, and supported.

We’ve made sure the machines and default software are compliant. Your role is to:

  • Install products in accessible ways (e.g. correct height and spacing)
  • When customising the UI, keep built-in accessibility intact by keeping the on-screen messages clear and concise. This also helps customers consider contrast requirements when customising the UI, ensuring all changes comply with EAA requirements by keeping messages clear and concise and by taking accessibility factors such as colour contrast into account
  • Share clear, accessible instructions with your users

To help you do that, we provide:

  • An Accessibility Statement with technical details
  • A Public Accessibility Summary for everyday users
  • Additional documents on request (like interface guidelines or specifications)

Looking Ahead

Machines installed before 28 June 2025 can stay in use for up to 20 years, depending on national rules. However, any new machines placed on the market from now on must be fully EAA-compliant.

We’ll also re-evaluate once the next version of the European accessibility standard (EN 301 549 v4.1.1) is finalised to stay ahead of the curve.

Accessibility isn’t a phase. It’s part of how we design and build at Cleveron. We’re proud to meet the EAA, but we’re even more proud of the decisions we made long before it was required.

We’re here if you need guidance, documents, or a conversation about what this means for your business. You can reach out to us for any queries via your key account manager or by writing to us at

Smart design means nothing if it isn’t inclusive. That’s why Cleveron products work for everyone.
