Woolworths trials first robotic locker to dispense online grocery orders / Media mention

Woolworths is trialing a temperature-controlled click and collect locker in western Sydney that dispenses online grocery orders. The robotic locker, deployed outside Woolworths's Granville store in Sydney’s west, is made by the Estonian-headquartered Cleveron AS.

“After placing an order online and selecting a pick-up window, customers are sent a unique code, which offers secure access for collection. Customers can then park in one of three dedicated parking spots next to the locker, enter their code, and have their order dispensed automatically within seconds. Granville is our first store to trial the Cleveron lockers, with more to come in other parts of our network soon. We look forward to hearing the feedback from our customers and team members,” the retailer said.

In a statement to iTnews, Woolworths said that Granville is one of four stores set to trial the robots. Woolworths plans to roll out lockers at three other stores in the next months. “This technology has the potential to save our customers a lot of time and effort, as well as reducing congestion at the front of our stores during popular collection periods,” said Woolworths.

Cleveron 501 is a self-service automated pickup point that can be installed in various locations, taking the shop closer to the consumers. It includes freezer and regular climate zones, issuing orders within seconds, thus making the pickup fast and convenient for the end-user.
